According to an article4 over on Trade Arabia, NEC Corp and Panasonic Corp have unveiled 9 new mobile phone models which run the open source Limo OS, Limo have stated.
Ever since Apple and the iPhone and Google and the Android entered the mobile arena, the mobile phone market has been shifting towards software development, thus mobile phone vendors and operators look for open source alternatives to cut costs, such as the Limo operating system.
Japanese mobile carrier KDDI along with Immersion Corp has now joined the Limo Foundation but still Limo is missing out on support from larger mobile phone vendors. Panasonic, NEC, and Motorola have unveiled a total of 42 handsets using the Limo software.
