At the Open Source in Mobile event last year in Berlin, Nokia unveiled their vision for an Internet Tablet when they announced plans for Maemo 5, a new version of Linux based tablet OS. The Nokia RX-51 has cleared the FCC and looks to be the mentioned Maemo 5 product reports arstechnica.
Images indicate the Nokia RX-51 is a mobile phone as well as an Internet Tablet which is a major step for Maemo and could well reflect a more Linux centric strategy for Nokia.
Nokia announced earlier this year a project named ofono which apparently seeks to construct a total telephony stack for mobile Linux platforms and possibly make Maemo a viable platform for smartphones. For the full article follow the link.
