If you are a T-Mobile G1 owner then you have most likely been enjoying Android 1.5 over the past few months. However this could be the last bit of excitement to come out of the smartphone.
According to Dave Sparks, Android Software Engineer, there will come a time when devs “won’t be able to fit the latest [Android] release on the G1’s internal flash,”. Another engineer said on Twitter that he “can’t promise” an update will fit after 1.5. The G1 was given an amazingly skimpy amount of internal flash by HTC for some reason.
No Android platform handset will support application loading/storage via a mucroSD card and thus there is no way to free space for Android updates Donut, Éclair and Flan. Without 2.0+, G1, we cannot give you all the affection you need. Fickle we know.
