There has been a small number of updates to N-Gage which is Nokia’s gaming platform of preference. The N-Gage has even showed itself on the Nokia N97, but it’s the Symbian S60 3rd Edition smartphones that are getting the latest update.

N-Gage has been trying to redesign itself recently and it was a tiny surprise to learn the Symbian Guru reported N-Gage for 3rd Edition smartphones had been given an update to version number 1.40 (1557). This had everyone checking their Nokia N86 8MP, hoping that their device had the latest update too.

The install size has leaped to 12.2MB and this shows. The update page will show as soon as you log onto N-Gage asking you to update. If you had installer 1.20 already then you be asked to overwrite with installer 1.40 (1557). There is an updater under Options menu if yours fails to install. If your mobile supports WiFi we would advise you to use that, it’s a timely download, so be careful of your tariff.

The full sis file can be found on the website if you do not wish to install it directly onto your mobile. There is a small amount of noticeable changes as part of the update. First to be noticed is the welcome screen, the change is, it has now breaks down the way you view your games. The general layout is mainly the same. It does make getting the games easier. The N-Gage showroom and switching between screens has also become quicker and easier.
