There were apparently 38.1 million mobile phones sold during Q2 and of these, 15 million use a touch screen as the primary interface says Canalys, a market research company reports pcworld.
A year ago in the same quarter there were 33.6 million mobile phones sold and of those only 3.9 million were touch screen. Canalys VP, Mika Welch says the success of touch screens is of course tightly coupled with the success of Apple’s iPhone, which has ignited user interest.
Well this is kind of obvious to me as the advancement of mobile phones is now touch screen based and thus more are going to sell as the mobile phone toting public always want a slice of the latest tech in the mobile arena.
