Gmail, Google’s popular e-mail application was out of order on Tuesday afternoon for about an hour and a half, from approx 1pm until 2.25pm.
The company were aware of the problem and assured users that they would provide an update by September 1 1.53 detailing when they expect the issue to be resolved. Adding that the time was an estimated time and may change.
Google had just finished a rare advertising campaign that was aimed at trying to get companies to get rid of Microsoft applications including Outlook and Word. Gmail also experienced a long outage on May 14th this year, which meant many concerns about the reliability of so called cloud computing services. Google didn’t comment but did acknowledge and apologize for the outage on its Gmail blog. I tried myself yesterday evening and it still wasn’t working. Source – www.wired.com
