Nokia are planning to launch a selection of new devices this year regardless of the growing pressure being applied by Apple and RIM (Research In Motion).
Analysts say that the Finnish telecom company may still struggle to maintain its current top position in the mobile phone market. Three new smartphones all with touchscreens and a portable notebook PC will be launched and they will partner Microsoft to enable the running of the popular software on the handsets.
Gartner, technology consultancy has estimated that Nokia have just sold 500,000 of its latest smartphone the Nokia N97, since June when it launched. And Apple’s third generation iPhone sold one million units in the first weekend after it’s launch. Nokia will also be using Linux software and will be working with Facebook to develop new services.
