America Online (AOL) have just named Brad Garlinghouse as their president of Internet and Mobile Communications in an attempt to expand it’s email and instant messaging business.
Spending over six years at Yahoo! Inc, Garlinghouse will head AOL’s Silicon Valley operations and he will be leading the ventures on the US West coast, according to the New York based company. The 38 year old will report to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Tim Armstrong.
They are overhauling there operations in a bid to prepare a separate company by the end of the year. Ad sales from AOL decreased 21% in the second quarter and according to Time Warner Chief Executive John Martin in July he commented that the was no sign of recovery in the units advertising.
