Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile UK and Orange-owner France Telecom have formed a deal whereby they will see a business producing sales of €9.4 billion, and holding roughly 37 percent of the mobile market it will be the United Kingdom’s biggest provider surpassing Telefonica owned O2, reports the BBC.
The Orange/T-Mobile deal will be the second largest corporate deal in 2 days following Cadbury’s proposal to takeover Kraft Food for £10.2 billion.
The Orange/T-Mobile partnership is set to be signed by November and it is hoped this deal will bring substantial benefits to customers within the United Kingdom. However it is more than likely that the competition authorities in the EU and UK will look at the deal first.
