US: Palm and Sprint Nextel may release handset sales data
US smartphone manufacturer Palm Inc and Palm Pre carrier, Sprint Nextel have thus far been reluctant to release any news on just how many Palm Pre smartphones have been sold reports the FT.
However, former Apple exec, John Rubinstein, who became Palm’s chief exec in June may just open up just a tad when Palm announces their Q1 results. Investors will be looking for clear evidence that Palm’s recovery strategy is still on track.
Palm shares have been buoyed by the announcement of a $50 price drop for the Palm Pre and the launch of the new Palm Pixi, but some are still unconvinced and analysts predict Palm staying with Sprint for the Palm Pixi may limit demand and thus affect margins.
