Palm has again confirmed their plans to work with other wireless carriers sometime in the 2nd half of 2010. This announcement follows on the back of a report that Verizon Wireless has now ditched plans to offer the Palm Pre smartphone, according to an article on Bloomberg.
The news that Verizon Wireless had turned down the chance to offer the Palm Pre sent Palm shares tumbling 4.7%. Palm spokesperson, Derik Mains, refused to confirm if the statement was a response to the report and said that Palm does not comment on speculation and rumour.
TheStreet.com had cited unnamed sources close to the negotiations and said that Verizon Wireless had abandoned plans to offer the Palm Pre in January due to the handset not becoming a blockbuster seller.
