Droid is a brand name for Verizon’s Android handsets and not just a single phone as was expected or assumed. The Sholes which we have been calling the Droid so far may simply just be known as the Droid.

The HTC Desire will be coming to market as the ‘Droid Eris’ , it is expected that the Eris will be released and not announced on November 6th. The October 28th event is still likely to be the Sholes.
