Way back in 2006, the music news and downloads website MNS Music closed, well now the word is according to an article over on trusted reviews, MSN Music is back with a new look and totally DRM free content.
Word has it that MSN Music already has 1 million tracks available for download, which seems a lot but when you compare with the likes of iTunes’ 20 million and Spotify’s 6 million it’s not that many yet. Microsoft uses a “credits” payment system whereby a single track costs one credit while an album cost ten credits and a pack of ten credits will cost £7.99.
All album downloads are zip files in mixed MP3 and WMA formats, and while MP3 is widely used, WMA files aren’t quite so compatible with several handsets one of which is the iPhone.
