Apparently security issues in Jammu and Kashmir have led to the banning of prepaid mobile phones by India’s Ministry of Home Affairs reports an article over on cellular-news.
The ban means no carrier can issues a new prepaid SIM card and existing prepaid SIM cards should not be renewed in that region.
Apparently the Ministry has issues the ban in the wake of reports that proper verification isn’t being done when service providers and vendors provide prepaid SIM cards with in some cases people being given a multiple number of connections.
