If you are a proud owner of the new BlackBerry Bold 9700 on T-Mobile, the word according to an article over on berryreview is that T-Mobile BlackBerry Bold 9700 owners can new activate their visual voicemail services for free.
Apparently to activate your BlackBerry Bold 9700 visual voicemail for free all one needs to do is visit their My T-Mobile website, and furthermore apparently some BlackBerry users have spotted that if you log into the website and own an older BlackBerry smartphone which sports a visual voicemail supporting OS you can activate the service as well.
How to do it goes like this, log into the website, change your handset to the BlackBerry Bold 9700 under services tab and you should see visual voicemail is available as an option.

Works like a charm, I have just activated the Visiual Voice Mail on my 8900 with os 5.0
T-Mobile Customer Service is useless!
I just bought two 9700’s for my wife and I. I called t-mobile to turn on Visual Voicemail and after 5 minutes on the phone they informed me that Visual Voicemail was only available on Android even though T-mobile’s website clearly advertises this feature on the 9700. Then they transfered me to the Blackberry support group who told me the same thing.
Thanks to this article I was able to take care of this myself.
T-mobile owes you guys my 2-year contract.
