Not all that long ago the mobile phone only sported a 1.3 megapixel camera which did the job in good light but the more advanced the mobile phone goes the camera follows so that now we have mobile handsets packing 8 megapixel cameras and even 12 megapixel camera.
So what about tow of the reasonably latest smartphones out of Nokia, the Nokia N97 and the Nokia N97 Mini, how do they stack up against others in terms of camera performance, well the guys over at all about Symbian do just that.
It has to be said that now that the 8 and 12 megapixel cameras are out and about the Nokia N97 and N97 Mini’s 5 megapixel camera isn’t that special but is handy for snapping that special quickie on the go. The dual LED flash does a decent job on close ups and works well for fun night time videos although the quality leaves something to be desired.
As for the interface, that hasn’t changed since the 5800 with a somewhat confusing mix of traditional options and pop up panel which is a bit of a mess and lets Sony Ericsson and Samsung handsets win hands down, and Nokia needs to work at minimising screen taps and furthering usability.
On the video side of things the Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 Mini could be said to be worse than video taken by the 2006 Nokia N93 or the 2007 Nokia N95 which basically means subjects nearby often turn out blurry. We have a video for your viewing pleasure captured by a Nokia N97 Mini with default high quality, widescreen setting, so hit it up and check it out.
