Leading 4G chip maker Sequans Communications has apparently raised funding for their LTE development program from both Motorola Ventures and Alcatel-Lucent and existing investors according to an article posted on earth times.
Sequans Communications is a leader in WiMAX solutions and has stated their intention to develop WiMAX and LTE solution in parallel. Sequans CEO, Georges Karam has said that their expansion into LTE has been their long term strategy and is a natural progression for them.
VP of End-to-End Solutions for Alcatel-Lucent, Doug Wolff has said that they are confident their collaboration with Sequans with successfully contribute to the development of an LTE TD-TDD ecosystem. Senior VP and General Manager, Wireless Network, Home and Mobility for Motorola, Bruce Brda commented that Motorola is please to continue working with Sequans to realise 4G.
Sequans Communications will use the funding to speed up their LTE development timeline along with adding additional resources to their LTE teams and hopes to demo heir first LTE samples early 2010.
