Dell has shown off their first smartphone the Dell Mini 3iX in Brazil, but for some strange reason Dell has apparently altered the Android operating system and removed the Android market application according to an article on Brazilian website zumo.
Apparently Dell wants users to download applications direct from their developers or from the shop’s own and not allow users to use the Android Market.
The Dell Mini 3iX packs a 3.5 inch display, 3 megapixel camera, WiFi, 3G, Android OS 1.5 \Cupcake and obviously customised to exclude the Android Market in this instance, with the director of retail for Dell Latin America, Scott Schillington commenting that yes it’s Android , and yes we customised it the way we wanted.
So no room for misconception there then, obviously Dell is dead set against Android Market use on the Dell Mini 3iX, which apparently is due release in Brazil maybe in Q1 of 2010.
