Canada’s Telus Chop 125 Jobs
It looks like several Telus employees won’t be enjoying Christmas very much as the Canadian carrier gives 125 employees the big heave-ho right on top of the festive season reports an article over on the Welland Tribune.
Apparently the job loses cover the whole of Canada with most of the job cuts being at management level in their business solutions division, and the reason for said job cuts is the recession according to Telus Corp media relations, Shawn Hall.
Only last week Telus rival Rogers also announced some 900 job losses in middle management as they look to reduce costs and streamline their operations. Although Telus will offer retraining and repositioning within the company wherever possible.
Hall said that they realise these are difficult changes for people but these cuts are part of Telus’ efficiency operations and with the recession, we’ve had to accelerate our efficiency program.
