So word has it that the infamous Google Phone is now the real deal called the HTC Nexus One which is actually the HTC Passion smartphone, and word has it Google themselves have confirmed this by announcing their employees have a new device to test reports an article over on softpedia.

But when you actually take a look at the Google announcement they don’t actually say they are testing the Google Phone, all they do say is that their employees have received a new device for testing purposes.

There is also the Twitter tweets from Eldar Murtazin to take into consideration whereby he believes that the Google Phone rumour was a misunderstanding and rumoured onto the net waves by none other than Apple.

So basically nothing has really been confirmed on a Google phone, as when you look at it couldn’t the HTC Passion simply have been given a name change to the HTC Nexus One, it’s not like smartphones don’t receive a name change before they hit launch.

Basically I guess it’s down to what and who you believe as nothing on the Google phone has been confirmed as far as I can see. So what do you think, Google Phone or just HTC Passion renamed Nexus One?
