It appears that TomTom may be taking note of Google Maps Navigation over in the states and as a result has now introduced a United States only version of the TomTom for iPhone application which commands a much lower price than their $99 iPhone GSP application reports an article over on appscout.
The new lower priced TomTom app for iPhone US will command a price tag of $49.99 and apparently all the user loses out on is maps of Canada, so if you don’t actually intend going to Canada it’s really no big deal and you get the app for less bucks.
The TomTom app for iPhone US will still include maps for Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico, and will still offer 2D and 3D views, advanced lane guidance, IQ Routes and now that it has been updated will also include test-to-speech.
The special US only TomTom app for iPhone is available from the Apple App Store for a price of $49.99 as an introductory offer through December the 28th and comes complete with its “Xmas” icon.
