During 2009 we have seen and reported on numerous smartphone launches, but it would appear that the first new smartphone to see launch in 2010 will come from Google with their much talked about Google Nexus One as many rumours speculate that the Nexus One will see a January release according to an article over on product-reviews.
Popular word has it that Google is looking at a launch date for their Android 2.1 packing Nexus One as the 5th of January, while rumour has it that the Nexus One will be sold SIM free so users can decide which carrier to go with, which would no doubt be a popular choice if the Nexus One doesn’t come out too expensive to buy unlocked.
Other popular rumours say that Google will actually offer the Nexus One themselves while other carriers, T-Mobile has been tipped, will also offer the Google Phone.
Spec wise it has been rumoured that the Nexus One will pack quad-band GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSDPA, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, OpenGL ES 2.0, Android 2.1 OS, and an unspecified size OLED touch screen.
No doubt Google will showcase their Nexus One smartphone during CES 2010, and one has to wonder if anyone else has anything up their sleeve that can possibly pull attention away from Google’s baby.
