As you are probably aware, over in France the Apple iPhone is sold by multiple carriers mainly due to a complaint made by Bouygues Telecom to France’s Competition Council, which resulted in Orange losing exclusivity over the iPhone in France.
Well according to an article on 9to5mac, the results of the iPhone being offered by a wider range of carriers has led to a bit of a price war, in as much as Orange has cut their pricing for the French iPhone.
So Orange France now offers the iPhone 3GS 16GB for just €59, which is about $48 it was previously €149; as for the iPhone 3GS 32GB, it is offered at €169 that’s roughly $242, and the 8GB iPhone 3G comes in at just €19 that’s an incredible $27.
Now, here in the UK it was expected that when the iPhone was with multiple carriers there would also be a price war, but so far this isn’t the case, but as this is now happening just across the channel maybe there is still yet hope that Orange will take the same route with the iPhone here in the UK.
