Apple 5 megapixel iPhone to support 720p and 1080p video rumour
It is rumoured that Apple will be shipping a 5 megapixel iPhone, and move 40 to 45 million iPhones in total during 2010.
Digitimes who usually are pretty good when it comes to rumors have reported that OmnuVision the company that make CMOS image sensors that go inside both the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS is expecting to supply up to 45 million camera for iPhone during 2010.
The exact percentage of how many will actually be 5 megapixel cameras is unknown, but they will be going into the new iPhone which we are expecting to be announced round about the 28rth June 2010. Add this rumor to that the next iPhone will have NFC and we are seriously looking at one hell of an Apple.
Wonder if it will have an OLED screen as well, maybe that is asking just a little too much. The iPhone 3GS today uses the Samsung S5PC100 application processor which can do 720p video recording and decoding, if the next has the 5 megapixel sensor which supports both the 720p and also 1080p video recording and decoding then we have the possibility of HD video coming to an iPhone near you this summer.
