The designs are sleeker, the screens are better, and new applications featured in smartphones make them as popular as ever. They are still the fastest growing segment of the mobile market with sales in 2009 rising from over 318 million units in the fourth quarter of 2008 to 411 million in the last quarter.
Generally Research In Motion (RIM), Apple, Google, Motorola and Palm have all seen huge gains from their smartphone businesses. Apple’s iPhone 3GS topped the list of best smartphones followed by Motorola Droid, T-Mobile MyTouch 3G by HTC, Palm Pre, BlackBerry Storm 2 and Nokia N97.
