AT&T Sued over Calling Cards by Washington DC
Looks like iPhone carrier AT&T is facing a spot of bother with Washington DC as the attorney general has apparently filed a lawsuit against AT&T which looks to recover customer’s unused balances on prepaid calling cards reports Reuters.
Apparently the Washington DC suit states that AT&T should turn over any unused customer calling card balances with the last known address as Washington DC and who have not used the calling card for 3 years.
The office of the attorney general claims that AT&T’s prepaid calling cards must be treated as unclaimed property under district law , and said sum which is known as ”breakage” apparently represents 5 to 20% of the calling card market.
Thus far AT&T as expected has refused to comment on the legal action, which is District of Columbia vs. AT&T Corp with the District of Columbia Superior Court.
