Not too long ago the HTC website stated that no updates beyond Android 1.5 were planned due to 1.5 being stable enough, but apparently that is no longer the case.

According to an article posted by mobile syrup, official word has come down from HTC that apparently they have ‘re-evaluated’ and upgrades are now planned and on their way.

So here’s what HTC have to say…they will implement an update to Android 1.5 for the HTC Magic and HTC Dream in the next few weeks and by mid year HTC will deliver an upgrade to Android 2.1 and include HTC Sense for the HTC Magic.

Although apparently due to limitations of the HTC Dream it will not be developed beyond the next Android 1.5 update. But it does look like the Rogers HTC Magic will eventually gain Android 2.1.
