Well now that the Google Nexus One is available it appears that the people down under won’t be gaining Google’s latest superphone any time soon as apparently Google has slated four countries for the handset but not Australia.
A report over on The Australian says the Nexus One will be available in the USA, UK, Hong Kong and Singapore for $529 US, but according to a Google Australia spokesperson, the Nexus One, although should work on ‘most’ GSM networks, isn’t compatible with Telstra’s Next G Network.
The spokesperson went on to state that the Nexus One will work with virtually all GSM SIM cards globally however there are a few carriers such as Telstra Next G and AT&T which have different 3G frequencies and thus a user would only be able to access EDGE or 2G networks.
Apparently the Nexus One is just the beginning and Google will add more international operator partners along with launching more Google branded handset in conjunction with other Android handset partners.
