Google Nexus One Superphone First Impressions

Lee Lup Yuen of ZDNetAsia ordered his new Google Nexus One superphone from Google as soon as the handset was announced and received it in Singapore on Saturday, and after having a play with it over the weekend he gives his first impressions of Google’s latest Android handset.

He says the Nexus One feels slim and light and is very comfortable in the palm and its best feature is that it is has a bright clear screen due to AMOLED; and that the colours are vivid and gorgeous when compared to the iPhone.

The Nexus One sports a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and flash whereas the iPhone sports a 3 megapixel camera without flash, and the Nexus One camera works great at capturing pictures close up and when scanning bar codes.

He was able to connect his Nexus One to his corporate Exchange email server via ActiveSync but notes the handset doesn’t sync to his Exchange calendar while mobile broadband and voice call worked OK.

Overall Yuen was quite impressed with the Nexus One and it is according to his words “a serious challenger to the iPhone,” although the Google handset does lack some of the enterprise features of the iPhone.
