The word coming down the pipeline is that the president of Asustek’s mobile device business, Benson Lin has said that the joint venture Garmin-Asus will show their first Android based product and the Mobile World Congress reports digitimes.
Note the word show, because if it takes anything like the time Garmin-Asus took to get out the nuvifone it will be quite some time before we actually see an Android handset hit the streets from them.
Lin also mentions plans of debuting a new Windows Mobile 6.5.3 smartphone called the M10 which apparently sports a 3.5 inch WVGA touch screen, 5 megapixel camera, GPS and a Qualcomm 7224 600MHz processor.
The M10 should become available in early February in Taiwan and command a price tag of NT$13900 which is about US$434.4. Garmin-Asus also has plans to launch 4 to 5 new Android or Windows Mobile handsets this year.
