IBM to deliver Lotus Connection and Lotus Quickr to iPhone and Mac

The word is that during MacWorld 2010 in San Francisco, IBM will deliver their enterprise social platform Lotus Connections along with Lotus Quickr collaboration package for use with the Mac and the iPhone reports an article over on Cnet.

The general manager of IBM Lotus Software, Alistair Rennie said that organisations can now use our software for instant messaging, social networking, collaborative applications, and securely encrypted email on the Mac and iPhone.

Rennie went on to say that IBM needs to support multiple platforms while consumer tech drives IT requirements, and that people wish to use their iPhone and other devices on the road and at home, and still do the things they need for work.

Rennie also confirmed that IBM plans to support the latest creation from Apple the Apple iPad, and the main challenge is ensuring enterprise level security methods like encrypted email is available on mobile devices. Therefore IBM has launched an iPhone app for Lotus Notes which is said to be the first to support securely encrypted mail on the iPhone.
