Do You Deliberately Smash your iPhone to get a Free Upgrade?

Apparently whenever Apple release a new iPhone model or iPhone upgrade, according to gadget insurance provider Supercover, iPhone users deliberately damage their existing iPhone to gain a free upgrade or newer iPhone reports an article over on techeye.

The word is Supercover has noted that insurance claims for the iPhone can go up by as much as 50% when Apple announces either a new model or latest upgrade.

Iain Macauley, a spokesperson for Supercover has said they asked customers making a claim to send in their broken mobile phone wherever possible and when an iPhone is returned they are often in pieces and on checking the damage, the marks are similar to that of being smashed with a hammer and in some cases a man’s shoe heel.

Macauley continued with saying that usually if a phone is damages it is due to water damage internally, and if you do happen to drop your phone 99 times it’ll crack and scratch but seldom falls to bits. Supercover states that 40% of all iPhone claims are treated as suspicious.

So, time to fess up folks, have you deliberately damaged your iPhone so you could gain an upgrade or newer model?
