Research In Motion that maker of the Blackberry smartphone has expressed concern over the fact that the bandwidth has already started to become scarce in markets such as the US.
I suppose this was to be expected really as the 3G high speed infrastructure was built over half a decade ago and is of course now a little aged. Currently AT&T, Verizon Wireless and Sprint are working in order to add cell towers and increase the traffic capabilities.
With the talk of the 4G being around just a year away, Sprint has started to install Wimax but the Long Term Evolution standard used by some other carriers may not be available to use for a number of years.
The alarm being raised at this time by RIM could well be a slap in the face of Apple which has recently suffered with issues surrounding data congestion on the AT&T 3G network. The number of smartphones being sold is still on the increase a lot more so than the simple handsets that used to be sufficient. Source – 247wallst.com
