iPhone 4G April 2011 release date, superchip not ready
There is and probably always will be many rumours floating the net wave over the next generation iPhone, several of those rumours relate to a possible release date for the iPhone 4G as it has become known, and what new features the latest smartphone from Apple would command.
Now, there has also been a rumour that the iPhone 4G would pack a new “superchip”, a new 4G chip that has speeds that are standard with 4G, LTE and WiMAX. The superchip is known as BCS5000 and is manufactured by Beceem.
Well according to an article over on gaj-it, the VP of marketing and business development for Beceem, Lars Johnson, spoke with macvideo, and it turns out this new 4G chip won’t be ready until the second quarter of 2011.
Therefore the presumption is that if the iPhone 4G is to sport this new 4G chip, the launch of the Apple iPhone 4G won’t happen until April of 2011. Of course without knowing if Apple is definitely going to use the BSC5000, this is of course more speculation, and we could still see a new iPhone during the traditional timeframe.
