Continuing the roll out of their High Speed Packet Access Plus network, T-Mobile USA has stated their HSPA+ is now available in the additional areas of suburban Washington DC, Long Island, New Jersey and New York reports an article over on pcworld.
T-Mobile HSPA+ can provide fast download rates at 21Mbps and is considered to be an interim step to LTE which can possibly provide fast download speeds of 80Mbps.
Furthermore, T-Mobile has stated that Los Angeles will also gain the HSPA+ service soon and they have plans to upgrade their entire network to HSPA+ tech by the end of 2010. Also, T-Mobile has confirmed that they are continuing to install the required backhaul capacity at their cell sites which is needed to enable the higher data rates.
Currently T-Mobile offers HSPA+ in Philadelphia however the only way computers can access the network is via a HSPA+ USB stick, but in future mobile phones and laptop with built in HSPA+ will also be able to utilise the network
