Although Android still has a long way to go to even get close to the iPhone when it comes to the availability of applications in their Android Market, it appears that the Android platform is gaining momentum when it comes to mobile apps.
According to an article over on intomobile, the Android Market saw an addition of some 9,331 new applications in March according to a report by read write web, which brings the total available apps in the Android Market to 27,243.
No doubt as more and more new Android based smartphone hit the mobile arena such as the new Samsung Galaxy S and HTC EVO 4G as they capture the interest of application developers, and apparently there is more interest in developing apps for the iPhone and Android than for the iPad.
Here’s how the Android Market has been slowly growing, in December the Market grew by 3,807 apps, January saw 4,458 new applications, in February another gain with 5,532 and now in March an additional 9,331, obviously a slow but steady rise in Android app development.
