According to an article over on marketwatch, New York securities exchange operator Nasdaq and the Consumer Electronics Association have now unveiled the SmartPhone Index which tracks companies that are “focused on wireless mobile devices with advanced communications functionality.”
Nasdaq and the trade group, on Monday released a statement which stated the members of the index would be involved in designing and producing smartphone handsets, mobile networks, hardware and software within the smartphone space.
Apparently at the moment there are 84 companies listed in the index including iPhone maker Apple, BlackBerry maker Research In Motion, and Nexus One supplier Google.
