At their first quarter report Clearwire announced that they intend to offer 4G WiMAX smartphones from both HTC and Samsung by the year’s end reports an article over on phone scoop, by way of business wire, even though another report says that Clearwire may switch from WiMAX to LTE in future which you can read all about (here).

Obviously the way ahead in the smartphone game is with the 4G networks and as we already know, Sprint is gearing up to release the HTC EVO 4G smartphone apparently on the 13th of June, which will run on the WiMAX network.

Clearwire already offers the Samsung Mondi WiMAX MID, but as far as we know Samsung hasn’t officially announced any new WiMAX enabled device on the horizon.

So the question is will Samsung be pushing out more WiMAX enabled smartphone this year, according to the article it looks like the answer to that is yes they will, what do you think?
