Word is you camera on your mobile phone is going to gain some 3D HD goodness in the near future as an article over on engadget reports that Sharp has now officially unveiled their new 3D HD camera for mobile devices, which basically means smartphones and point and shoot digicams.

The new 3D HD 720p camera module is an industry first and Sharp says they will be shipping samples in July with mass production beginning before 2010 is out.

There isn’t a great deal more to add on this at the moment, but no doubt when the Sharp 3D HD camera module does arrive it will command a hefty price tag.

Sharp does say in developing the camera module they applied high density mounting tech to achieve its compact form and embedding the new camera in the likes of smartphone, mobile phones and digital cameras will contribute to development of new innovative communication tools.
