It looks as if the Big Blue is finally getting their act into gear as according to an article over on engadget, AT&T intends to cover approximately 250 million people in the states with their HSPA+ by the end of this year.
Apparently during a Reuters event, John Stankey, Operations CEO for AT&T stated that AT&T intends to “double” their “theoretical” 7.2Mbps maximum; which is rumoured to have come about due to T-Mobile stepping into the 21Mbps arena.
Of course then there is Sprint and their WiMAX along with Verizon’s roll out of LTE which may have also contributed to AT&T finally making these moves, which should easily run between 7.2Mbps and 14.5Mbps depending on market, and numerous factors of course.
Also upping their maximum of HSPA+ to 250 million will also work out quite well if the next generation iPhone appears quite soon as rumoured.
