As we all know the way forward with smartphones is 4G be it WiMAX such as the Sprint HTC EVO 4G or LTE like Verizon Wireless is rolling out, although as yet there is no LTE smartphone that I am aware of, but that doesn’t mean none are coming.
According to an article over on msnbc by Sinead Carew, Lowell McAdam, CEO of Verizon has said that the top smartphone makers are all working on models for the Big Red’s nascent network.
McAdam said “I’d say all the major manufacturers we’re talking to today are making the transition to LTE.” Apparently Research In Motion’s BlackBerry, Motorola, HTC and LG are all working on 4G for Verizon and that is only the beginning.
Speaking at the Reuters Global technology Summit, McAdam predicted that “this time next year,” Verizon will offer 3 to 5 mobile phones that support LTE; this is the first time Verizon has announced that several LTE enabled handset will be available next spring as previous they said it won’t happen until next summer.
