Apparently the traditional landline is being killed off by the mobile phone and apparently one in every four families in America no longer own a landline and 25% of US households are only using mobile phones for their communications.
According to the recent study conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics, according to the authors Stephen J. Blumberg, Ph.D., and Julian V. Luke, the study found that 15% of US families that still own a landline receive almost all or all calls via their mobile phones.
The study took place between July 2009 and December 2009 and covered in excess of 21,000 families in America and shows that there is a solid migration from landlines to mobile phone technology which has been happening for years.
Furthermore the study also notes that the number of mobile only phone users is skewed towards the younger generation with almost 50% of 25 year olds not living in a household which has a landline which the majority of mobile phone only users are under 40 years of age.
