Significant profit increases are expected in the second half of the year by PCB makers Unimicron Technology and Tripod Technology mainly due to shipments of the new iPhone 4G handset any-layer HDI boards reports industry sources.
The article over on digitimes further reports that the average selling price for any-layer HDI boards is almost twice that of a traditional HDI board and this is why they are expecting increased profits although both Unicomm and Tripod declined to comment on the matter.
Furthermore, “according to industry sources estimates” shipments of the new iPhone 4G will total 3.5 to 4 million units in Q2 of 2010 and climb to 8.5 to 9 million iPhone 4G units in Q3.
Finally again according to industry sources, all shipments of the iPhone 4G handset will be built using any-layer HDI boards; this is of course if you are one to fully believe what you hear from this not too reliable source of iPhone news.
