So what about the possibility of the iPhone going with two US carriers say AT&T and Verizon? In the past there has been much call for a Verizon iPhone, but it has yet to happen, but that doesn’t mean it’s not on the cards.
During D8, iPhone Guru Steve Jobs chatted with Walt Mossberg and Kara Switcher, according to Engadget’s Chris Ziegler, when asked whether there may be an advantage to having the iPhone on 2 American carriers, Steve Jobs answered, “there might be.”
Now obviously that sort of answer is open to interpretation, and although Mr Jobs didn’t mention Verizon as a possible second iPhone carrier, the possibility is still there, and well Jobs didn’t come straight out and say no the iPhone is staying with AT&T.
Also according to Steve, Apple meets with AT&T once a quarter so they can be briefed on what the Big Blue is doing to improve things, and apparently said that although they have the fastest 3G, he said “I wish they were improving faster.”
Unfortunately though when pushed for an answer to whether the iPhone will go with another carrier, Jobs answered simply, “No comment.” Still “no comment” doesn’t mean it’s dead in the water does it, so there is still a possibility the Verizon iPhone will materialise at some stage.
