Well folks no doubt later today the mobile world will be afire with all things Apple as today WWDC 2010 begins, and it is, as rumours has it, expected that Apple chief, Steve Jobs will take centre stage at the keynote and officially announce the next generation iPhone, the iPhone 4G.
Whether iPhone 4G will be the official name of the next generation device remains to be seen, but most in the mobile arena expect it to happen, and also expect the iPhone 4G to become available the same day, again speculation, but we’ll know for sure later on in a few hours time.
The potential release of the iPhone 4G obviously has generated a great deal of excitement amongst the mobile crowd, and today will undoubtedly be iPhone 4G day, whether that be elation over the release or disappointment in it not happening.
If all the leaks and rumours are correct we already know most about the iPhone 4G thanks to the great Gizmodo iPhone 4G leak, but there is also a new device in town that has snatched some of the usual iPhone glory, namely the HTC EVO 4G which currently is smashing the iPhone 4G in our popularity poll (here)
So if the HTC EVO 4G can keep a commanding lead over the iPhone 4G once it’s released, Apple will have to do some serious thinking about how to grab back their smartphone glory next year when they come up with the iPhone 5G.
Yes all a bit early to be speaking of an iPhone 5G I know, but with the advancement of the 4G networks, and the dominance of 4G by the HTC EVO 4G, the iPhone 4G could potentially quickly become an out of date device, and if so, Apple would need to push out a 4G network surfing iPhone 5G handset to keep pace or be left behind.
I can’t see Apple trailing behind in the mobile game so potentially the iPhone 5G should now be in the works, but what else can Apple bring with the iPhone 5G that would be new and exciting to the mobile arena? If you have any ideas on what the iPhone 5G could potentially bring us, then feel free to let us know be posting in our comments area below, many thanks.
