On Friday the HTC EVO 4G smartphone was released and Sprint’s activation system crumbled under the apparent onslaught, delivering reminiscence of the original iPhone launch back in 2007. As you are probably aware the HTC EVO 4G is the first smartphone with 4G network capability.
However, Sprint’s 4G WiMAX network isn’t that far spread at the moment so 4G usage on the HTC EVO 4G is limited, but that hasn’t apparently stopped the demand for the device which has now become Sprint’s top launch day device pushing out the Palm Pre launch.
While the HTC EVO 4G basks in a couple of days glory, today we expect the next generation iPhone to be announced at WWDC 2010 in a few short hours time, and if the rumours are true the iPhone 4G will also be released today the 7th of June.
And then the real battle for supremacy between these two giants of the mobile arena begins. So far we believe that the HTC EVO 4G commands dominance in the mobile space as does many of our readers who have voted in our popularity poll.
But once the iPhone 4G is available will the HTC EVO 4G be able to maintain that advantage or will the sheer might of the iPhone be able to carry the iPhone 4G to victory once again? One thing is for sure, the battle between these two smartphones is only just firing up and it looks to be a long and hard fight ahead to see if the iPhone 4G can maintain the Apple stranglehold on the title.
