BlackBerry Curve 8530 Review, Accessories and Problems
The BlackBerry Curve 8530 from Research In Motion has been available for quite some time now, and recently was release in India on Tata Indicom and is a smartphone that sits neatly between RIM’s BlackBerry entry level devices and the higher end BlackBerry Bold or Tour handsets.
The BlackBerry Curve 8530 offer the user a 320 x 240 pixel display along with a 2 megapixel camera with fixed focus and video capabilities, GPS, WiFi, 3G, Bluetooth, BlackBerry Maps, access to BlackBerry App World, QWERTY keyboard, GPS and trackpad, and microSD slot.
Accessory wise there are plenty available for the BlackBerry Curve 8530 smartphone including extended batteries such as the Seidio Innocell 2600mAh, cases, holsters, Bluetooth Car Kits such as the Jabra Cruiser, skins, memory cards and much more.
Now most smartphone have battery issues at some stage and no doubt the BlackBerry Curve 8530 has seen its fair share as well, but what about any other problems? We’d like any of our readers who own a BlackBerry Curve 8530 device so send in their evaluation of the device along with any problems they may have experienced, and you can post your reviews, problems or any cool accessory you have found in our comments area below..many thanks.

I will consider iphone 4 instead of blackberry so far
good job!!!
it goes through batteries like warm butter. I'm using 2 a day where my Blackberry Curve 8330 took at least 2 days to use a single battery. I'm getting rid of the 8530, don't like it. Going back to the 8330 till they come up with something better
I like the features better than the 8330 the battery of course just depends how much I browse. But my problem is cosmetics my screen just above my buttons is lifting off after 6 months
HATE ALL BLACKBERRIES. HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE. ESPECIALLY DROPPING CALLS WITH VERIZON. Been with Verizon for 15 years and no problems til now….ABSOLUTELY done with BB and VZW…..they have crap phones and try to pawn off refurbished garbage when there are problems that their network has!!!
I bought a new curve 8530 two weeks ago. It died. In the last two weeks, I had to go back to the store to exchange the phone for new ones THREE MORE TIMES!! My fourth new one just died last night! I am done with BB. Never again. The phone dropped 8 calls on me yesterday alone. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE! YOU WILL REGRET IT!
OMG, this fone is garbage, the BB 8530 is a complete ripoff, i think they freakin got the insides from some cheap chinese factory for like 5 cents, glued that shit together and called it the new curve. dudezzz, stay away from all of blackberries, they suckkkk. (supposidly it broke the guiness book of records for being the most reliable phone) FARTTT, oops sorry
I've had the BB 8530 for about 5 months now, replacing my 8330. It definitely has some glitches: sometimes when I get a call, the ringer only rings for about half a ring, then stops. The speed dial buttons often don't work properly – when I press one, it dials out, and the person on the other end can hear me, but I can't hear them, and I'm unable to turn on speakerphone. The calendar function is a LOT slower to load and to use than my previous phone, as well. The keys are also a lot harder to press than other BlackBerrys. Not too happy with the "new" version.
Bought BB curve 8530 from Best Buy under th Boost subscription; Less than four months later the software on this phone is frozen Best Buy said it was a soft ware issue, can not down load from desktop or web. Blackberry refuses to replace the phone!! filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. This is the BIGGEST RIP OFF!!! Boost Mobile stated I have to wait for approval to get my phone replaced, How long will that take. Blackberry states if you have manufacturing defects they will replace the phone yeah RIGHT!!
I’ve had a BB curve 8530 for a little over a year now. I really had no major issues with it until the past few months. Some of my ringtones, mainly my SMS tones, would change themselves, not a bit deal to me however. The Keyboard is where I’ve really had my trouble. The ALT button was stuck on for days. Even when I’d do a battery pull, I’d put it in and it would still be on. I figured out how to get it off by pressing the mute button at the top, but then the ALT button wouldnt work at all. While the ALT is stuck, your trackpad doesn’t work. So you cannot use anything on the Home Screen and can’t even scroll through Facebook, Twitter, texts… That seems to have resolved itself, but now the A button is stuck on. When I type, it looks like I’m a drunken sailor with all the misspellings. When the A is actively stuck, I again cannot use my trackpad. I feel like my connection is really slow, and it takes quite a while to load pages even while in my house using Wi-Fi. I’m not a heavy browser and game player, so battery has not really been an issue for me, I guess I’m used to charging it every 36 hours or so. Only battery issue I had was when camping, and was searching for a signal. It would die in about 2 hours, this is to be expected however. The sound quality is good on this phone, but one thing I had is the absolute crap pictures it takes. The non existant flash just does not cut it for me. I’m ready for a much more advanced phone. I’ve had enough of this one and just ordered the Droid Incredible 2.
