It was always a forgone conclusion that the new iPhone 4 would sell big, you only have to consider all those people already using the iPhone who are bound to upgrade to know the iPhone 4 would easily hit massive sales figures.
Well according to an article over on Itproportal by Desire Athow, by way of Fortune, Apple has already announced that in the first 24 hours the iPhone 4 shifted some 600,000 units, and now apparently according to a report by investment banking company Piper Jaffray, sales of the iPhone 4 have surpassed the 1.5 million mark.
Apparently lead time when ordering the iPhone 4 from Apple is now placed at 21 days, but if you are after an iPhone 4 in white you’ll still be waiting a while.
According to the article 77 percent of those who purchased the iPhone 4 were in fact upgrading from a previous iPhone model, which just goes to show that without the iPhone faithful perhaps the iPhone 4 wouldn’t have done as good.
