The rumours of a Verizon iPhone have been around for donkeys, yet the device never seems to materialise even though there are many supporters of having the iconic iPhone move away from the AT&T network due to crap service, coverage and the like.
The latest rumour is that the elusive Verizon iPhone will finally make its debut in January of 2011 which we reported on earlier and can be read (here). Having said that, earlier reports had it that the Big Red was no longer interested in the iPhone 4 as they were concentrating their efforts on Android, see (here).
But let’s consider a different approach for a moment with the Verizon iPhone. Sprint already has a couple of smartphones that boast the latest tech for surfing the 4G waves, the most notable being the HTC EVO 4G and the Samsung Epic 4G on its way.
Verizon is said to be rolling out their LTE network in November but no compatible handset will be available when their 4G network goes live, as reported (here).
Apple currently doesn’t have a 4G iPhone, so unless Apple makes some moves towards a 4G enabled iPhone they will find themselves lagging behind in mobile technology as more and more 4G enabled devices are rolled out.
So could it be possible that the aforementioned Verizon iPhone coming in January, with a few tech changes, will be an Apple device with the ability to run on Verizon’s LTE network? What do you think, possible or not?
