Verizon ETF Class Action Lawsuit Cost Big Red $21 Million
A class action lawsuit over Verizon Wireless’s early termination fee has been going on since way back in 2008 and although a settlement was agree rather quickly it has taken this long to sort out several appeals which have apparently comes down against the Big Red.
According to a Tim Stevens article over on Engadget by way of the Wall Street Journal, the whole problem was over Verizon’s flat ETF of $175, a fee which has fallen foul of legalities when levied whether a customer was 1 month or 20 months into a contract.
Well the upshot of the class action lawsuit is that it is going to cost ole Verizon a hefty $21 million meaning that each Verizon customer named in the lawsuit will get roughly $87.50 each.
$21 million is slightly more than the $18 million the Big Blue had to hand over back in January of this year, but nowhere near as the super hefty $73 million Sprint had to fork out back in 2008.
